FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of counselling do you offer?

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor (MBACP). This means I work in a relational and integrative way, tailoring the sessions to you as an individual. My approach is warm, compassionate, and supportive, rather than applying a rigid “one-size-fits-all” model.

What issues can counselling help with?

Counselling can support you with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, and intrusive thoughts
  • Depression or low mood
  • Grief, loss, or loneliness
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Phobias
  • Anger or emotional overwhelm
  • Feeling “stuck” or lacking direction

What is the Rewind Technique?

The Rewind Technique is a gentle and effective approach for reducing the impact of trauma, phobias, and distressing memories. Unlike some methods, it does not require you to re-live painful experiences in detail. You remain fully in control, and many people notice relief after just one or two sessions. Why don’t you offer CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)?

CBT can be a helpful approach for many people, particularly in structured settings such as the NHS. However, my focus is on psychotherapeutic counselling, which allows for a deeper exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences over time.

While CBT often focuses on managing current symptoms, counselling provides the space to also understand the roots of what you are going through, supporting longer-term change and personal growth. For some clients, I may draw on CBT-style tools when helpful, but my work is not limited to one specific technique.

How long will counselling take?

The number of sessions varies depending on your needs and goals. Some people come for a short number of sessions to work through a specific difficulty, while others choose longer-term counselling for ongoing support and personal development. We will review progress together to ensure the approach feels right for you.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes. In addition to face-to-face sessions in Royal Leamington Spa, I also offer online counselling across the UK via secure video sessions. Many clients appreciate the flexibility and comfort this provides.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is central to the counselling relationship, and your privacy is always respected. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. We can discuss this in more detail during your first session.

How do I get started?

You can get in touch via phone or email to arrange an initial session. This is an opportunity to ask questions, share what brings you to counselling, and see if working together feels like the right fit.
